Bible Reading Blessings

Deuteronomy 17:18-20 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.

This article is a small sample of proof about the importance of Bible reading even in old times before God inspired the writing of the new testament.

1. Learn to fear the Lord.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

It takes practice, time and experience to understand the word of God.

And this comes from years of listening, saying and doing.

You can read the Bible everyday for yourself or listen to the word of God from the Bible in church.

But either way the Bible is the official word of God and everyone that understands this and refuses to choose the word of God is a fool.

Likewise, if you continue to choose the word of God you'll stay wise.

And a fool makes more foolish mistakes than a wise person.

Also when a person that's been in the word of God leaves the word of God to do what everyone else in the world is doing, then that person goes back to being a fool.

Learning to fear the Lord is about learning to receive His word everyday without going back into the world.

2. Learn Which Laws To Keep.

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

The more you read the Bible, the more time you're spending with God.

And the more time you spend with God the more wisdom and knowledge He'll give you.

And the more you get the more you'll understand.

And as you go over the word of God again and again, He'll continue to give you more and more knowledge and understanding.

Reading the Bible is also preparing your spirit to hear from the Holy Spirit.

He'll teach you what to do in every situation.

He'll even give you advice and direction out of the blue.

And He'll guide you towards His blessings.

3. Learn to stay humble.

Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

God is humble and meek.

But the world is harsh, judgmental, unforgiving, impatient and picky.

They also think humility and meekness is foolishness.

To the world pride and arrogance is more attractive then humility and meekness.

Because humility requires enough wisdom to resist the natural desire to lash out to defend yourself when someone else attacks or insults you with violence or words.

The word of God gives you the ability to follow Gods instruction and not fight back.

You can choose to turn the other cheek like Jesus said.

Luke 6:29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

Or you can agree with your adversaries (as long as it's not contrary to the word of God) before they bring you before the judge.

Matthew 5:25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

Or bless, pray, and do good to those that curse you, hate you, and persecute you.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

All of these instructions are from Jesus.

This is what He wants us to do.

Because they're all perfect demonstrations of humility and meekness from the word of God.

4. Establish yourself not to turn.

Proverbs 23:17 Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.

By focusing your attention on the word of God and not paying that much attention to what the world is doing you can keep yourself from backsliding.

Just be careful not to stop hearing the word of God or try to mix the word and the world together.

Because if you do, then that's when you'll backslide and go back to doing foolish things.

5. Live a long healthy life.

Proverbs 10:27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

Some people don't want to live a long life because they're suffering from serious sicknesses, diseases and heart-break.

But the word of God is able to heal every affliction and restore order to a person's physical, mental and emotional state.

To the point a person can love life again and want to continue to honor and bless God by living out the rest of they're lives blessing others.

6. Establish your kingdom.

Proverbs 19:23 The fear of the LORD tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

I've seen it with my own eyes people wanting to do bad things to me because of something that I did wrong, but not being able to because of the protection that God provides.

I've also experienced the blessing of unmerited favor where God blessed me even though I wasn't living according to His word all the way.

But I put my trust in Him and His word and that's all it takes.

7. Bless your Children.

Proverbs 14:26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

David said He never seen a righteous mans children begging for bread. Psalms 37:25

And Solomon said a good man leaves an inheritance to his grand children. Proverbs 13:22

That's because a righteous man is a person who reads the Bible everyday or as much as possible, then prays the word of God and does the word of God as well.

He endures many afflictions and still relies on God and in the latter end of his life of learning from mistakes, backsliding and repenting he finally gets it right because of the grace, kindness and generosity of God.

Some get it sooner than others but to the same end result and eternal life.

Matthew 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
