Do You Know What It Takes To Crucify The Flesh?

If you want to know what it takes to crucify the flesh then listen to this.
The flesh is the part of us that resists our transformation into the new person in Christ.
And since this is the case the devil wants to use the pleasures of our flesh to keep us enslaved to our old habits and sinful attitudes.
We have daily choices to live according to God's righteous desires, and deny sin. When we use our power to choose God's way instead of sin's way, we crucify our flesh.
God helps us crucify our flesh through the Holy Spirit so that we may live in the newness of the Spirit.
The desires we must crucify include fornication, covetousness, stealing, and lying plus follow the rest of the ten commandments.
As we put these things to death, we are able to then put on the new man, renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created us.
1 Peter 4:1-2 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
When a man is crucified, he dies. And when you die, you're dead.
Therefore those of us who belong to Jesus need to crucify the flesh so that we become dead to the flesh, dead to our passions, and dead to our desires.
Galatians 5:24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Now if this is true, why do we still have ungodly desires, and why do we still yield to the flesh and it's passions?
Also since these things still bother us, does that mean that we are not one who belongs to Jesus?
Are we failures as Christians? Do we really belong to satan and not God?
Have I struck a nerve? Perhaps you've pondered over these exact same questions.
I suspect that all of us may have felt this way at one time or another.
Rest assured, you are still a child of the King if you have excepted Jesus Christ as your lord and savior.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
God paid a high price for you. He sent His own Son to die in your place.
Therefore the intent of (Gal 5:24) is not to discourage, but to encourage us to resist these fleshly desires and passions.
What is dead is the strings that attach us to sin that no longer bind us because they were cut loose and destroyed by the Blood of Jesus and the Word of God.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me .
So what we need to do is commit to responding to the flesh in different ways than how we used to by choosing to be a living sacrifice to God and by being obedient to him.
Romans 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
For example: If your flesh wants to look at a person to lust after, look the other way. Or if your flesh wants to take someone else's valuables when they leave you alone in the room, you should change your thoughts to something positive.
Another one could be if you know you're going to be alone tonight and will be able to surf for porn on the internet, you could invite a friend over so you don't have the opportunity to get into trouble .
Keeping your mind off of your own desires by helping others is another good way to keep from fulfilling the lusts of the flesh.
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
Crucifying your flesh does not mean that your life will lack pleasure. God is the author of true pleasure that is not tainted with sin in any way.
Matthew 13:44 "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field."
In fact, God provides perfect pleasures that bring lasting satisfaction and joy, unlike the temporary pleasures that selfish sin could ever offer.
keep on doing what you do god bless
we pay. in this day i have to find entertaining ways
to bless the lord with my soul as to make the lord my
sweet habitation. a question that i've asked before is
what is on the other side of god's word... that
pleasure that the world cannot describe for it knows it
not. matt 13:49
to not let circumstances rule me , once i decided not
to lessen to the flesh i found new focus and a stronger
love for the lord...
joy reading what the lord allows me to read. i am
guided daily throught the holy spirit and he lead me to
the site. gorly to god, may the almighty living god
bless you all. in jesus name amem
of god, which is our spiritual sword, slaying our evil
passions and desires....not that we are ever completely
free of them but the sword is the antagonist of these
desires and passions and keeps them at bay.
especially if we as sinners saved by grace are used to
doing sin. but with god on our side, anything is
possible.
implications if we were to deny any evidence from our
world today, where an individual dies (e.g., illness,
elderely, car accident, heart attack, or simply drops
dead, etc.) and then is ressurected from the dead and
that same individual lives on his life and so on...any
implications?
thanks in advanced. hope everyone had a great
thanksgiving.
point that needs to be expounded upon. when we are
tempted, we need to do one thing: turn to jesus. we
must acknowledge our inherent weakness to overcome the
sin in ourselves (which is nothing more than self
help). we turn to jesus in the temptation, and
acknowledge our weakness in the flesh, ask him to help
us and strengthen us. we recognize our own depravity
and turning to jesus to find rest and peace in the
temptation.
how do you stop sinning against your oun flesh? if you
know what i mean! i hate it. but still continue to do
it. i really want to but i do. please tell me what to
do and how to pray this spirit off of me. please!
of god. jesus said, "my words are spirit and they are
life." john6:63
reason is governor of the emotions. how a person
thinks is how his feelings go. start thinking what god
says, start saying what god says and you will be able
to resist the desires of the flesh. 'resist the devil
and he will flee from you.' over time you will become
stronger and stronger till there is no more hold on
you. prayers for your delivery.
be encouraged brothers and sisters. fight the good
fight. being confident of this very thing, that he
which has begun a good work in you will perform it
until the day of jesus christ. phillipians 1:6 those
who belong to christ jesus have nailed the passions and
desires of their sinful nature to his cross and
crucified them there. galatians 5:24
after i masturbated...twice. i feel so asamed of myself
and prayed then realized i need to crucity my flesh and
thanks to you and the word of god, i know understand
what that mean. god bless you in jesus name.
or did you become dead to sin by 2 cor 5:21?
i believe your entire article is based in flesh, yet
there is no condemnation via rom 8:1.
which tree are you promoting eating from? the tree of
life, or of knowledge of good and evil? the veil
untaken away, or the veil taken away?
you are dead to sin, recon yourself so by christ's
work - romans 5! if you think you've killed the flesh,
christ died in vain!
you can try to reform the flesh, it will let you think
you have done so, and will lead to pride/self
righteousness. or you can come boldly to the throne of
grace and sing with the saints rev 5:12 and 5:13. sin
was crucified on the cross, recon it so by christ's
work!
crucify by the spirit.

yourself dead to sin. to no longer let it be your
master. that sin no longer has any dominion over you.
count it as truth judith :) you hate sin, and need to
proclaim with paul rom 7:17 to the glory of he that is
faithful and true! sin was crucified on the cross
judith, recon yourself dead and even if you still sin
know that it's forgiven and you've been perfected
forever. you can't crucify your flesh, christ already
did 2 cor 5:21.
those who belong to christ jesus have crucified the
flesh... gal 5:24
with your mind you serve perfectly the law, with the
flesh the law of sin, 1 cor 15:56. we walk by faith,
not sight - gal 3:12 and 2 cor 5:7, so that the glory
is his.
this power is in an earthen vessel so we can learn the
power is of god - 2 cor 4:7. you've been set free by
the son, recon yourself already dead to sin, quit
trying to crucify something that's already been nailed
to a cross.
i hope that makes sense :) help me out if i'm off
track...
becoming a believer. we have to put on our spiritual
armour and work at it. which means we change our
thinking as in "be transformed by renewing your mind
with the word of god.' the words of god are our
spiritual weapons. example: when i have a hateful
thought toward someone who has done me wrong, i'm
reminded that i'm not to think evil in my heart of
anyone. god did the saving and the walk is for
rewards. there are vessels of honor and vessels of
dishonor in every house...who wants to be a toilet
brush? (smile).
highlight the fact that god did the saving as some
people try and try to quit sinning and think something
is wrong with them because they can't totally
"kill/crucify the flesh". we're new creations in
christ, the new creation doesn't sin, the old man/flesh
does nothing but sin. seeing the difference brings
peace. i think part of our earning rewards is our
ability to rest in what christ has done and looking to
behavioral modification for assurance can be deadly. i
certainly wasn't saying believers stop sinning, just
that the flesh is what sins. here's a good article on
law and grace if anyone wishes to read -
