Seven Deadly Sins
As you continue to read this article you'll discover how the seven deadly sins can cause you or someone else's death, why they cause you so much pain, and what you can do to stop it, before it's too late.
What makes The Seven Deadly Sins So Deadly?
Isn't it because they are habits that create pleasurable emotions and when left unchecked or get out of control can cause a variety of physical and mental problems that can lead strait to your own death or cause you or someone else to commit murder?
Can't lusting after a woman (or man) cause infidelity that leads to jealousy, rage and murder or cause you to get infected by a fatal sexually transmitted disease?
Lust adds tremendous suffering to the mind of a lonely person and can easily be provoked to the point of taking desperate action by vanity, greed and especially envy.
Proverbs 6:25 Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
That's why (according to the Bible) it's good to stop making sexual innuendos and quit agreeing with comments about other peoples good looks or body parts and stop flirting and showing physical attraction towards anyone but your spouse.
Can't envy cause a poor man to be unhappy enough to rob someone at gun point and shoot to kill even at the risk of the death penalty?
The Bible says that envy is the rottenness of a man's bones (pr 14:30) and that it is more harder to stand against envy than wrath or anger. (pr 27:4)
Proverbs 23:17 Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
Envy is essentially a major cause of Backsliding to most Christians (pr 12:26) but your hope is in the fact that the expectation of the righteous shall not be cut off (pr 23:17-18) and the righteous will be recompensed on the earth much more than the wicked and the sinner. (pr 11:31)
Can't vanity or excessive pride cause a person or a race of people to oppress and murder other people who they believe they are superior to?
In my opinion vanity is the most deceptive of all the seven deadly sins since it's a very strong belief in your own self-worth.
It's just as pleasurable as lust and can easily get out of control when a person is perceived to be successful by other people.
It dictates your moral standards and controls many of your actions and can cause you to compete against other people in a very negative and ungodly way.
Proverbs 16:5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Can't wrath lead directly to hatred and then ultimately murder?
According to proverbs a person that is slow to anger and overlooks a transgression is wise because he has the opportunity to avoid contention and strife in favor of Seeking Love, which of course is, the will of God.
Proverbs 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.
The cure for wrath is to simply humble yourself and practice meditating on the word of God.
Can't laziness lead to poverty, bad living conditions, malnutrition and eventually disease and death?
Alot of people don't realize it but, it's their own lazy mentality that's holding them back.
Laziness is not just about not wanting to work, it's also about not trying hard enough, trying to take to many shortcuts, or wanting to depend on somebody else to do things for you when you're fully capable.
Proverbs 21:25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labor.
If this is you, then quit making excuses, try a little harder, keep going and don't quit, buckle down and do things right the first time and learn how to do some things for yourself without having to depend on someone else all the time.
Can't gluttony lead to laziness, poverty, obesity, organ failure, other bad health diagnosis, disease and also death.
Proverbs 23:20-21 Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh: For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
It's no secret, eating and drinking in excess is a very unhealthy and expensive habit to maintain and can easily lead to poverty and an early death.
That's why one of the main practices of Christians should always be Fasting.
Can't greed cause someone to murder and steal the goods of other people or put other peoples lives at stake in order to make a profit?
Proverbs 15:27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
The person that said "greed is good" didn't know what they was talking about and is probably also guilty of vanity.
There is nothing good about being greedy but according to the Bible it is good to be abstinent and to share with others even what little you might have.
What is your belief, experience, or struggle with the seven deadly sins?
