Were You Raised On The Word, Or Were You Grazed On The Word?

Raised On The Word

This message is simple yet complex.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way He should go.

Some parents know who God and Jesus are, Catholics, Jehovah witnesses, Mormons and other cults like these.

But still miss the meaning of this verse I just mentioned.

Check out the book Kingdom of the Cults.

To truly know God's message and why he sent his only begotten son on this earth is to know why this passage is so important.

I myself was raised as a Catholic and as such knew more about the Virgin Mary than who Jesus was.

You may be asking the question why was knowing Jesus more important than the Virgin Mary.

Simply put He was put on this earth not to condemn it, no. He was put on it to save it.

Most parents as mine did packed us up in the car and every Sunday off to church we went.

As long as I sat there and behaved, I was okay.

But as soon as I acted up, boy did I get it.

I wasn't punished because of who Jesus was, or why He died for us. I was punished because we were in a public place with people we really didn't know and therefore we were told to behave.

It wasn't until later in life before I truly realized who Jesus was and why I needed to accept him as my Lord and savior.

As I mentioned earlier, Jesus did not come to take away life, no He came to give life back to us.

He did it because we ourselves could not be pardoned for our sins from God.

You see, when Jesus died on the cross for our sins, that did not make us sin free.

We are all sinners, says the Lord.

Not one of us is righteous.

But God Himself has given us repentance.

You see we cannot live a sin free life, so because of repentance we go to God and ask God to forgive us.

Here are some scriptures to help you better understand what I am conveying here.

Romans 6:23

James 1:15

Romans 7:5

The death of Christ accomplishes reconciliation, or reconnecting us back to God.

Romans 3:25 says, "...whom God set forth as a propitiation" for our sins. "Propitiation" literally means "something that appeases a deity."

However, in the Biblical sense it means much more than this. It can mean to "accept hurt", to "forgive", to "show mercy." As sinners, we transgress God's perfect law and have no legal right to exist.

But God himself, who sits as Judge accepts the hurt, pays the price, forgives, and offers mercy.

How many of you reading this, had parents like mine? Or had parents who had no belief at all?

This is why Proverbs 22:6 is so important.

I pray that you now have a better understanding about why we as stewards of God's word must teach our children and their children about who Jesus truly is and why we need to accept him at an early age.

Also on a special note.

People have asked when is the second coming of the Lord?

And why do we need to be worried about it. But

Here's what the Bible teaches us.

Matthew 24:36

Matthew 24

I pray that this message gives you Hope, Peace and Love.

But most of all I pray that you Accept Jesus Christ into your lives.

Blessings from Chaplain Anthony
